Wood sculptor Matt Cave standing in front of a tree he felled in Chiapas, Mexico.

Hello, my name is Matt and I have a background in architecture and arboriculture. After leaving architecture school, I worked for over a decade as an arborist in England. But, it was when I discovered my talent for creating sculptures from reclaimed wood that my true passion emerged. For the past 20 years, I have been a chainsaw artist with an art studio in Tulum, as well as in Chiapas, Mexico, and Oxfordshire, England.

I draw inspiration from the beautiful locations that surround me, and I use the natural beauty of each area to create one-of-a-kind pieces. My works are often inspired by the raw form of the woods and are known for their imperfections, with hollows, cracks, and naturally created features due to the elements. I love designing sculptures for a wider audience who appreciate art in public spaces.

Throughout England and Latin America, you'll find my sculptures on display in hotels, restaurants, and community areas. I am also available for private commissions and can create anything from wood using my chainsaw. I'm passionate about creating bespoke wood carvings that enhance their surroundings, and I take great pleasure in producing pieces that are unique and beautiful.
